Resting above Lake Union on Capitol Hill, this 1924 bungalow had undergone a remodel in the 70’s by the UW Architecture Department. Once considered a contemporary home, it now needed a refresh to expand its Lake Union views. The material palette was simple - walnut, steel and stone.

Nestled up above the street the home’s charming bungalow interiors were reconfigured to create a more open floor plan while maintaining a traditional feel. A layering of textures and materials done in both a traditional and a modern vein balance the spaces with the clients heirloom furniture and art collection. 

The goal was to maintain the vintage character of this home while creating a new character that modernized the spaces.  Adding a large bay of window in the kitchen bathe the interiors in light, highlighting the oak, marble and the hex tile. The materials are subtle in color but still add warmth. Tammara Stroud Interiors did the furnishings which compliment the new finishes throughout the home. 

 This client tasked me with transforming a dark, cramped and dated Capitol Hill kitchen into a sparkling and sophisticated light-drenched space honoring the home’s original design. The color scheme weaves its way through the home in various shades of blue and gray with botanical wallpapers adding a rich texture to the space.

This client needed reimagined interiors to add light while maintaining the existing dark millwork. We worked together to create a balance of dark and moody, light and sparkle, with traditional and botanical wallcoverings. 

This home is nestled into Washington Park. This growing family needed a second story addition to create a primary suite and office with a refreshed dining room and TV space.  We pulled inspiration from their existing art and furnishings collected from their travels.
